Proposals to gain more revenue for Lake Viking were discussed with an eye on multiple lot owners during a meeting of the Viking Valley Association on July 11. The lake has several multiple property owners that own in excess of seven lots. The fee structure as it stands today, only provides that lot owners pay assessments up to seven lots. After seven, owners pay a $10 multi lot fee up to 10 lots owned. The Lake has some owners that have in excess of 15, 28 and 60 lots owned that pay nothing on the remaining lots after 10.
In other business, a new fence is planned for around the pool this fall. It would be a good time to put a gate at the west side of the pool for handicap access. A sidewalk can be poured from the gate to the clubhouse restrooms.
Larry Hillman with the fire department and first responders reported the new pumper was used on the island at the marina on July 3 to allow boats to travel through the spray. Donations of $1,844 were made to the annual boot drive.
Flint Hibler of the Lake Committee reported deadline for the next inspection was June 30. Those who are non-compliant will be ticketed. A set of guidelines to follow as to when liens are placed on delinquent properties will be put together.
Shad Mort, lake manager, wrapped up July 4 holiday. There were no major incidents on the water. Several compliments on the fireworks display were noted.
The dredge will be going back in the three tubes cove. Mort was asked to have a plan for movement of the dredge in writing by the next board meeting.
Mort was given a $20,000 budget to replace a Tiger mower that caught fire and burned. A mower was rigged up to get maintenance through this year and possibly budget for a different mower next year.
Mort reported he purchased a bigger roller to do road work this year. He also purchased a used covered dock and lift. The lift will be put in the security dock and the dock itself will be used for maintenance. He purchased a silt fence installer for the lake.
Several community areas around the lake are in need of repair. Ninety percent of the work should be done by fall.
The above are the unapproved minutes of the July 11 meeting. Members in attendance were Jim Rash, Mike Feiden, Chris Feiden, Mark Davis, Mark Leggett and Ron Spidle.
