There has been such an overwhelmingly positive response to having a humane society in our area that the Daviess County Humane Society has grown faster than was prepared for, according to Pam Testi, president.

"We need more help in our rescue efforts," she said. "We need more foster homes willing to care for an animal until it gets adopted. We need more funds toward all the expenses."

She added that both the Gallatin Police Department and Daviess County Sheriff’s Office have worked cooperatively with the local humane society, and have been very supportive.

"Our efforts continue to help animals who are being neglected, mistreated or who have been abandoned," Testi said. "If you can volunteer or help in any way it would be very appreciated."

Contact Pam Testi, Daviess County Humane Society, by calling 660-605-4072; or writing to P.O. box 282, Gallatin, Mo., 64640.
