Dear Editor: Access II has plans to develop new programs and grow the services provided to our consumers. The new location and acreage will allow us to do this. We are planning to host many outdoor community activities, have community meeting rooms, raised garden beds, and are researching additional programs to implement.

Access II receives an Independent Living State Grant each year which amounts to 16.5% of our annual operating budget. We operate the Consumer Directed Services Program which is a Medicaid funded program, which requires that we assist consumers in hiring, training and payroll for their personal care attendants. This service allows them to remain independent in their homes. The fees Access II receives for this service amount to 83.5% of our funding. This Fee-for-Service program is what has allowed Access II to provide our Home Modifications, Consumer Fund Requests, Durable Medical Equipment and additional programs. This program also employs roughly 140 people.

Access Il appreciates the support of the community and the opportunity to serve our consumers. We have saved back funds for many years to purchase a building of our own in which to have equity in and remain in the community who has supported us from the beginning, It was not lightly that Access II decided to purchase a facility. The Access II Board of Directors and staff take seriously the use of grant funds and felt this opportunity would allow us to better serve our consumers and the communities in the eight counties we serve.
