Jana R. Bell, 46, Kansas City, is accused of setting fire to the home of her stepmother, Debra Bell of McFall, on March 7. The residence is located at 10096 State Highway T. Debra Bell came home to find her house on fire. The house was not completely destroyed, but was partially burned. Fire Marshal David Miller determined that the fire was arson, set in the basement and also on the front porch.

Bell is charged with arson second degree and burglary second degree. She is being held on $35,000 bond at the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail.

According to the probable cause statement, Jana Bell went to the residence of her brother, Martin Bell of Hamilton, after she set the fire and told him that she "went to Debra’s to put a bullet in her head." She also stated that Debra wasn’t home so she set her house on fire. Jana Bell told her brother she would not be taken alive.
