The Gallatin Chamber of Commerce has been re-established, as of Oct. 22, 2009, with Todd Holcomb serving as president; Trudi Burton, vice president; Cheri Wayne, secretary; and Janet Hart, treasurer. The Chamber was originally formed in 1946, but was discontinued in the 1990s. The annual "Christmas in the Park" is set for Saturday, Nov. 28 at Dockery Park. To enhance the Christmas spirit that is demonstrated by the wonderful displays and activities presented by the Dockery Park Board, the new Chamber is planning to bring a feeling of Christmas back to the Gallatin square on the following Saturday. On Saturday, Dec. 5, a tree lighting is planned on the square at 6 p.m. There will be carolers, and Santa Claus will make a visit. Businesses have been asked to decorate their storefronts, and some open houses will be held. A coloring contest is also being sponsored by the Chamber. The winner of the contest will flip the switch at the tree lighting. Businesses who are interested in joining the Chamber of Commerce should contact Trudi Burton at 660-663-7342. Comments?
