"Show Me Your Talent" was the battle cry when the Missouri Croquet Association hosted the National 9 Wicket Croquet Tournament held in Shawnee Mission, Kan., on Oct. 3-5. Competitors from all over the United States and Canada gathered for competition in nine wicket singles, doubles and cutthroat playing. Three days of wonderful weather made this ideal for learning new techniques and meeting new friends. After numerous games, winners were announced. Leading the singles competition was George Cochran, Louisiana, Matt Smith, Missouri, second and Billy Bob Breeden, Missouri, third. Doubles winners were Matt Baird and Art Parsells, Oklahoma, Bob Kroger and Reid Fleming, Maine, second, and Matt Griffith and Billy Bob Breeden, Missouri, third. Cut throat winners included Brad Clouse, Kansas, Ron Millican, Missouri, second and Roy Morgan Washington, D.C., third. The USCA has asked the Missouri Croquet Association again host the 9 Wicket National Croquet Tournaments next year. Tournament dates are Sept. 25 - 27, 2009 at Shawnee, Kan.
